A few years ago when the topic of a match between Golovkin and Canelo came up most people were quick to choose Golovkin as the favorite. In 2017 with the fight a mere few days away, a matchup that was once seen as favored for Golovkin is now an even fight. It is apparent that much like the Mayweather Pacquiao fight, Golden Boy Promotions marinated this fight enough till it benefited their fighter.
