Canelo Golovkin, From One Sided to 50/50

A few years ago when the topic of a match between Golovkin and Canelo came up most people were quick to choose Golovkin as the favorite. In 2017 with the fight a mere few days away, a matchup that was once seen as favored for Golovkin is now an even fight. It is apparent that much like the Mayweather Pacquiao fight, Golden Boy Promotions marinated this fight enough till it benefited their fighter. Canelo has been on an uprise since his knockout victory over Amir Khan, defeating the likes of James Kirkland, Liam Smith and most recently Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The 27 year old fighter from Jalisco, Mexico has looked more impressive in each bout. While his opponent Gennady Golovkin on the other hand has been on somewhat of a decline. At age 35 many are beginning to question if Golovkin is still that same knockout monster who was tearing through the middleweight division since arriving to the U.S. In his recent bouts with Kell Brook and Daniel Jacobs, Golo

Mayweather McGregor, the Fight for Money not Pride

After a over a year of back and forth, the fight very few boxing fans cared for has been finalized. Conor Mcgregor will be facing the defensive master Floyd “Money” Mayweather on August 26th. As a competitive fight this bout is going to be nowhere near as competitive as the casual spectator expects it to be. This fight isn’t about two competitors trying to prove who’s the best. This fight is about selling a show and making a ridiculous amount of money in the process. There is a strong reason Floyd dropped the “Pretty Boy” nickname and began referring to himself as “Money”. The reason being is that it purely is about the money for Floyd. This fight would have been a better fit for Wrestlemania in 2018 but having it take place in a boxing ring is disrespectful to the sport. In 2017 boxing has seen one of its best years in recent memory and sadly that is going to be overshadowed by the gray cloud of Mcgregor vs. Mayweather. This year in boxing we have seen the best fight the best

Does Thurman Porter 2 need to happen now?

As many expected this past Saturday on Showtime Boxing Shawn Porter was victorious in his welterweight bout with Andre Berto. The fight was very physical with many head clashes that seemed to dictate the pace of the fight. There were breaks made for the headbutts but no actual warnings or point deductions by the referee. This was rather odd to me but regardless Shawn Porter still did what he had to do and won by TKO in the 10th round. At this stage in his career Andre Berto is not up to par to be competitive with the younger welterweights in the division. Regardless Berto still fought with a lot of heart as he always does but it still was not enough to slow down the barrage of punches coming from “Showtime” Shawn Porter. So what’s next for Porter? This win has earned him the position to be the mandatory challenger for WBC Welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman. The two have fought before in a very exciting back and forth brawl. In the end Keith’s superior boxing sk

Can The Faithful Still Be Rewarded?

The CLG organization has faced its ups and its downs. Anyone who has followed them over the years knows the rollercoaster that is associated with the League of Legends team. We have seen them go from barely surviving relegations against Curse Academy to winning a game against SKT. The sheer unpredictability of this team is its beauty and its demise. In the past the organization had a willingness to try new things in order to strive for success. They were the first North American team to import a Korean player in “Seraph” and they also tried their luck with bringing in European jungler “Dexter”. CLG booted their long time star player “Doublelift” to create a better atmosphere for the players. Sometimes changes CLG made worked and sometimes it didn’t. Many people including myself thought they were making a huge mistake in getting rid of “Doublelift” but they proved us all wrong. They went on to win the 2016 Spring Split against rival Team Solomid and Doublelift. Then they had th

C9 Pheonix1 Playoff Preview

Tomorrow Cloud 9 and Phoenix 1 will face each other for the third time this 2017 Spring Split to determine who will go on into the North American LCS Final. Both these teams are extremely familiar with each other because of the way the end of regular season was scheduled.  The most recent match between them came in week 9, and if we decided the winner of tomorrow’s semi-final match from the week 9 match result, then Cloud 9 will win the playoff series with convincing fashion. However, we cannot forget how Phoenix 1 defeated Cloud 9 in week 5 with a 2-0 victory off the back of Meteos, the former C9 jungler. Meteos played his heart out to prove to his former team that he still had plenty of quality play left in his pro career. In order to understand how each team can win the semi-finals match, we have to look at each of the previous matches between these two playoff teams. Cloud 9 over the entire season has been a mid focused team, and they relied heavily on Jensen to carry the team

Love Notes II - m_boogs Review

West Covina native rapper m_boogs has just released his latest project Love Notes II. This is a sequel to m_boogs Love Notes released in 2012. As you would guess the focus of both these projects is the wonderful thing we call love. It is amazing to see m_boogs growth as an artist from revisiting the first Love Notes to now hearing part 2. It is also an interesting idea that no matter how long ago a relationship took place, it can still have an impact on our lives. Whether it is a relationship involving attraction to another person or relations as a friend. Things we do will leave a lasting effect on someone else’s life and we may not even know it. This thought brings us to Love Notes II. With the help of Justin De Guzman being the exclusive producer for this project, m_boogs takes us on a trip through his emotions. With smooth jazzy production accompanied by m_boogs cool but sharp flow, this under 30 minute project is perfect for a night time drive. Love has been a popular topic

was GGG exposed?

Was Gennady Golovkin exposed? This has been highly debated since his narrow victory over middleweight contender Daniel Jacobs. So was the reigning middleweight champion of the world exposed? The simple answer is, no. Were his weaknesses exploited by the best opponent he has faced his entire career? The obvious answer is yes. After over 20 knockouts victories in a row for the first time ever Gennady Golovkin actually looked beatable. Despite that fact, he is not the first fighter in the history of boxing to win a close fight. There is a bright spotlight that the public places over GGG every time he steps into the ring. The same kind of light that was placed on Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. during their eras. Expectations are always insanely high and when those expectations are not being met, the public goes into a frenzy. For the first time to our viewing pleasure, a GGG fight did not end in a knockout. A lot of people are overlooking the circumstances. Daniel Ja

May The Weather In Boxing Continue To Shine Without Floyd

There is no doubt that Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. is one of the greatest boxers of all time and arguably the greatest of this generation. Many fighters claimed to have the formula to crack the code that is Floyd’s defense, and all have failed. Retiring with an undefeated record Floyd has proven time and time again that he truly is an amazing fighter. Despite his greatness as a boxer there is a huge persona that comes along with it. This is to be expected for a boxer of his magnitude. While active, it always seemed as though Floyd was bigger than the sport of boxing. A lot of attention was drawn to his lifestyle, arrogance and flash. I never had an issue with Floyd’s whole persona and his constant need to be in the spotlight but I often thought the sport of boxing would benefit from his retirement. A large portion of people that tuned in to the many Floyd Mayweather pay-per-views weren’t watching to see a boxing match, they were watching to see him lose. Floyd Mayweather fights w
